OctoDad Does Bad Deed

An “exclusive” in US Magazine has confirmed that Jon, the dad in reality tv show Jon & Kate Plus 8 (about a couple with 8 kids), had an affair with a school teacher named Deanna. It’s all classic peep – guy elevated to celeb status because he is the subject of a reality series, then finds out what comes along with being a celeb: having all parts of your life be used as entertainment for others, not just the family friendly stuff you think is going to end up on tv. That’s the nature of the peep beast: it keeps going, whether you like it or not. (By the way, today’s theme is reality tv: I’ve got another post coming up this afternoon on the topic.)

So before we end with the obligatory array of Jon and Kate exposed by US Magazine crap that’s all over the web (accompanied of course by thousands of comments – is jon a bad dad? are the couple a sham? did the pressure drive jon to drink and cheat?) let me just say this: poor kids. Eventually they will grow up and have to deal with not just their parents, but with half the world having access to a permanent record of their wacky, weird and not necessarily all that happy childhood. Remind me, when did they sign up for that exactly?

Maria B: Maybe I’m very naive, but if these kids had common associates, it just boggles my mind that in the last few weeks they started getting deeper involved instead of realizing that 2 kids just like them have just died and they need to stop doing what they are doing before they end up dead as well. I just don’t get why that wasn’t a wake up call for them.

That fat lady sang long ago: It’s common knowledge that they are over, and have been for almost a year now, he’s had SEVERAL flings throughout their marriage, he’s just becomming less discreet about them. No wonder Kate is on the edge all the time!! Jon is effectively exposing this sham marraige for what it’s worth with his “indiscretions,” and his actions are threatening to expose them for the frauds they are! No way is this “religious, god-fearing” couple, who purposely brought all these “little faces” into the world and built their fortune on the guise of family values and God and perfection and lies, ever going to admit they are over! NO WAY will they give up all that $$$ or book deals or fame or their (network paid-for) mansion. Not to mention, imagine the public backlash they’ll receive when they actually do admit they are over, admitting its all a sham, and destroying these babies lives as they know them?? They would rather die than admit it. Greed? Saving Face? “Religion?” Who knows or cares really. Garbage “reality” tv that is in fact scripted with babies exploited daily for ratings and $$. They should pull the show and be investigated by child services! But alas, no, instead they’ll use this to their advantage and just get richer—The Gosselins Go To Marriage Counselling: the power to overcome “real life” obstacles with family and prayer….watch for it PS: what is wrong with the world when 8 lil babies IN NEED can’t even get free diapers or “sponsored”, yet these lying posers are filthy rich??? It makes me sick!!
   
 
Shelby: I am a mom of a 3 year old and feel like I become critical at times and feel like I am going to lose my mind. I can’t begin to imagine the stress on both Jon and Kate with having 8 children and multiples at that….I think if we all try to empathize instead of judge, we will realize that they are doing the very best that they can. They are in my prayers!
   
Larry: Jon should pick up the phone and call Hulk Hogan for martial advice.
